UTRCRC INFORMATION
Last year I got together with PinchFlat and showed him a link to a rock crawling site called www.mudcow.com. Even though the Mud Cow looked cool as hell, our first impression was “Why?” How can a monster truck crawling over rocks be fun? Where’s the competition that we where so use to with on and off-road racing?

Well, being the R/C enthusiast that we are; we decided to find out the mystery that is rock crawling. After months of trial and error and a great deal of research on the web, (oh and not to mention a lot of money $$$) we where able to build and finish our first crawlers. WOW! PinchFlat and I have been involved in R/C for over 15 years and this was without a doubt the most fun that we had ever had with R/C.

I (Kaetwo) remember back in the day when I first came across a Tower Hobbies magazine in a field (no seriously it was a Tower Hobbies magazine) as I was walking home from school. That’s when I was first introduced to the world of R/C. I remember wanting a Tamiya Hotshot, and thinking about how cool it would be to blast through a field and climb hills, rocks and anything else that came in its way. Well the reality set in when I got my first R/C (a Tamiya Wild Willy) that it really didn’t do well in the rocks, fields and even the grass. Don’t get me wrong it was still a blast to play with but it just didn’t hit my dream of what I thought R/C would be. R/C crawling fulfills this dream. It’s everything you wanted your normal R/C to do but just couldn’t.

When I (PinchFlat) was a punk kid with no money, I worked odd jobs around the neighborhood to earn some cash to buy a Tamiya Rough Rider. Well a friend of mine got the cash together first and beat me to it and bought the then, brand new, Tamiya Super Champ. Well I went to my parents that day, and signed a contract for a loan (yes my parents made me sign away my summer of play for one of hard labor) for the extra cash I needed to get my Rough Rider. It was GLORIOUS! We ran those cars into the ground and they still kept going. After a while we started to want more. Then out came the Tamiya Bruiser. The thought of a 4 wheel drive RC car made us giddy as a teen-aged boy feeling his first breast. But we were young and penniless and the Bruiser was a HUGE chunk of change. Needless to say, our dreams of roaming the urban crawling grounds stayed only in our fantasies, until now.

From there it’s been a nonstop journey to improve our crawlers and our driving skills, and we will continue that journey through our site, the competitions and the bevy of great products that are available now and in the future.

We hope that you will enjoy our write-ups, tech-articles and all of our miscellaneous images and videos, and let’s not forget the competitions, that we have to offer.

Sincerely,

PinchFlat
